James Tavernier

Age: 24 years

Nationality: English

Current Team: Rangers FC

This week we have a very Attacking right-back from the Scottish Premiership who I have followed closely for a long time.

I have always thought there was something about this guy.

I like full backs that can offer more than just being good defensively, ones that will shoot (like a certain Cresswell) or give you another attacking threat.

Tavernier has a lot of ability for a right back, he has lots of strengths to his game.

He has what is required for a modern day full back, strong crosser, quick, can tackle, good anticipation and positioning.

He competes very well in defence, committed, he picks his tackles sensibly.
Overall a solid full back.

In Attack he will usually finish well when gets space inside the box with sight of goal.

He will cross pretty often which is good for the striker and other players.

He is energetic going fwd, gives you that extra attacking weapon from wide areas.

He Attacks and defends well most importantly.

Scores goals in general play as well as being a big threat from free-kicks.

He has hit some awesome free-kicks in his career.

This gives you an advantage that can just win you games that are tight as we have seen with Payet last season.

James has good technique, strikes the ball very well.

Wouldn’t surprise me if a Premier League club takes a chance on Tavernier in the next few seasons.

I think he would be an absolute bargain for a club looking for a right-back with a Market Value of around 340k going by transfermarkt.

I wouldn’t have thought he would break the bank…

This would definitely be a great value for money signing who would offer a lot more than just being good defensively.
