Another year is upon us and we go into it with the same hopes as every year, that maybe just once West Ham can try their best to win a cup. It doesn’t matter which to me but of course the F.A Cup would be preferable. David Moyes, our new manager fresh off the back of an excellent win in his first game takes us to Gillingham for the 3rd round.

While in his first spell in charge he famously threw a cup game away to Arsenal which didn’t go down well with me and many others. But in his defence he was told to keep us up, which he did. I think this year might be different as he is saying all the right things so far.

Gillingham are 12th in the old 3rd division, which might suggest they are not doing very well, but they are unbeaten in their last 6 games picking up wins and draws along the way and by all accounts playing good football. This might suit West Ham as it might encourage them to try and come at us and we could take advantage on the counter.

Hopefully with a new manager in charge West Ham can rise up the table and away from the 16th position they currently occupy. But Moyes has said he wants to win in the cup to bring confidence to the side that has been playing without it for sometime now.

Gillingham have no real injuries to report and set to name an unchanged team for the game.

The good news is that West Ham by all reports will also be picking most of the players that we have seen all season. While the bench may be different and hopefully include some exciting youngsters.

Predicted Teams :

Gillingham : Bonham, Fuller, Ehmer, Tucker, Ogilvie, Jones, O’Keefe, O’Connor, Lee, Mandron and Hanlon.

West Ham United : Fabianski, Fredericks, Ogbonna, Diop, Balbuena, Masuaku, Rice, Snodgrass, Lanzini, Anderson and Haller

I don’t think anyone will be able to accuse the club of not putting a strong team out this time and I really can’t see this game being a problem. The new manager bounce will continue for this game at least and we will run out comfortable 3-0 winners. It will be nice to upset the T.V cameras for a change.
