Jonathan Lee > Well that was enjoyable wasn’t it; back to back away wins and another three good goals too! Let’s enjoy this ride we’re on!

COYI!

Fabianski – 6 no real chance with the goal otherwise not overly busy;

Coufal – 9 real quality, saw off Grealish and aggression very reminiscent of one Tomas Repka, also had a shot at goal first half, superb shift;

Dawson – 6.5 a shaky moment first half which nearly let them in but sound thereafter, too slow to track Watkins run for the goal but moments later made a vital block to stop a possible equaliser from the same striker, also involved in winning the ball back in build up for our first goal;

Ogbonna – 6.5 another no nonsense performance never looked ruffled although did got caught flat footed for the goal conceded;

Cresswell – 6.5 solid and calm at the back although never really got forward as much as we have seen this season, a silly yellow earned for kicking the ball away almost the length of the pitch;

Rice – 7.5 covered every blade of grass and broke up the Villa attack on a number of occasions, started the counter attack from our own box for our second;

Soucek – 7.5 a slow start to the game although came close with one curling effort, but took his goal ever so well to start the scoring and thereafter his confidence and impact on the match just grew;

Fredericks – 7 surprisingly thrown in ahead of Bowen but stuck to his role ever so well when doubling up with Coufal in defence, also got forward well at times too at one point turning Mings inside out and then delivering a dangerous cross;

Lingard – 9 one of the best WHU debuts in recent memory (and the first brace on debut since Trevor Sinclair in 1998), a particularly lively opening 20 minutes and took both his goals ever so well, you would never have guessed that was only his fourth match this season;

Benrahma – 8 seemed to up his game with Lingard next to him, lovely ball through to Soucek for the opener and generally always looking to push forward, wasted a good volley opportunity just before he was subbed;

Antonio – 8 first half he ran his socks off in pressing and second half, after initially failing to play in Benrahma on goal, was involved in all three goals with clever assists for both Lingard’s goals, unlucky with lob cleared off line by Mings;

Subs:

Fornals – (84 mins for Fredericks) 6 the usual effort to see the game out

Johnson – (88 mins for Benrahma) 6 solid enough without having to do anything special

Bowen (92 mins for Lingard) no mark, not sure he actually touched it for his appearance bonus!
