Jonathan Lee > Ultimately, despite lots of effort, a disappointing and rather tame exit to our FA Cup run with a Man Utd team not firing on all cylinders and there for the taking if we’d have had more of a go. Let’s hope spirits can be raised again ahead of Sheffield Utd next Monday.

Fabianski – 7 one fantastic tip onto the post first half and solid block from Rashford second half but no chance with goal;

Coufal – 6.5 excellent rearguard action first half and tried to get forward too but lost his impact a little having had to move inside to the right of a back three;

Dawson – 8 solid first half with numerous blocks and unlucky to be on the losing side after a courageous display, almost connected with a corner deep in injury time;

Ogbonna – 6 made a decent block early on but in the process took a whack on his ankle and was subbed;

Cresswell – 6.5 looked only player capable of opening up the home defence first half, sloppy header in defending the goal;

Rice – 6.5 looked a little leg heavy again but covered acres, unlucky to lose ball that led to counter and eventual goal;

Soucek – 6 a quiet game and pushed up front at the end, nothing really fell for him on the night and maybe could have done better with clearing the header that led to the goal;

Noble – 7 credit where it’s due, a skipper’s display, and played a big part in keeping it goalless for so long;

Bowen – 6 tried but to little affect again, seems to have temporarily lost his mojo, had an opportunity to feed in Fornals first half which he missed, subbed at half time;

Fornals – 6 covered a lot of ground as we retreated for long spells but no real impact offensively, wasted one decent attacking opportunity when we countered with three against two;

Yarmolenko – 5 simply not cut out for the lone role up top when quality opposition are on the pitch.

Subs:

Diop (for Ogbonna 15 mins, off again half time) – 6 did well but subbed off at HT after a concussion knock;

Benrahma (for Fornals 88 mins) – 7.5 looked our brightest spark during extra time;

Lanzini (for Mipo 111 mins) – 6 never really had a chance to shine;

Johnson (for Bowen 45 mins) – 7.5 looked solid and athletic posing the home defence a number of questions down the left;

Mipo (for Yarmo 53 mins, off again 111 mins) – 5 nothing stuck for the young man, one to mark down to experience;

Fredericks (for Diop 45 mins) – 6 some early promising runs second half but impact diminished over extra time.
