Our mighty West Ham continue to dominate in the Europa League with a convincing 3-0 win over KRC Genk at London Stadium to maintain a 100% record in the competition this season.
It was the visitors who arguably started brighter in the game having seen a goal chalked off for offside in the eighth minute of play. This was then followed up by a glaring miss from Onuachu who leapt above the outstretched Areola to head just wide of the mark.
It was at this point in the match that West Ham began to take hold of proceedings and threaten the Genk defence. The pressure was then rewarded just before the break when Dawson rose to head home from a Aaron Cresswell corner to give West Ham a deserved lead.
As the second half commenced, it was clear that West Ham had their tails up with an intent to wrap this affair up as soon as possible.
57 minutes in, and the impressive Diop met another fine Cresswell delivery to head in the underside of the crossbar, knowing another Europa League victory was now within touching distance.
It wasn’t long before the points were confirmed, when just 60 seconds later West Ham grabbed a third. Jarrod Bowen danced his way to the edge of the box and fired a low shot which the Genk keeper Vandevoordt could only parry into the net.
West Ham comfortably saw the game out and secured all three points with another clean sheet thus maintaining a 100% record in European football this season.
We also saw Dan Chesters, a product from our academy, who made a solid debut in the 89th minute after replacing Manuel Lanzini.
West Ham will be looking to build on this victory and their impressive away performance against Everton last time out in the Premier League when they face rivals Spurs on Sunday.
