Irons boss David Moyes has spoken to the press ahead of our FA Cup 3rd Round clash with Leeds United this Sunday at London Stadium.

West Ham head into the game on the back of 2 Premier League away wins against Watford and Crystal Palace respectively, and will be looking for a positive start in a competition our Captain Mark Noble has already stated this week he is dreaming of winning in his final season as a player.

There has been recent speculation on player contracts, in particular Michail Antonio, Moyes stated: “We’ve extended one or two contracts behind-the-scenes. We did Michail’s contract about two months ago, but we’ve also done another couple of players. We’ve gone about our business quietly, trying to do things behind-the-scenes and trying to do things correctly.

“We’ve got a few more players who have signed contracts. I’m sure the Club will announce it at the right time.

“We’re trying to do our business in the correct fashion if we can and we’re getting round players and renewing their contracts. I’m sure the Club will do something on it.”

The boss provided an update on the injury front and the Covid-19 situation: “Like everybody else, we’ve got a few COVID cases. We’ve done very well at present with it, but I’m sure like everybody else, we’ve got a few COVID cases.

“Other than that, we’re looking forward to the game and trying to get the players ready.”

“We’ve got some COVID in the camp like everybody else, be that players or staff, but we’re trying to play the games and if we’re asked to do so, we will do.

“To keep things as correct as it could be, teams might use the transfer window to strengthen, and teams who have missed three or four games might bring a bigger squad in. That wouldn’t be correct because at the moment we’ve all got to deal with the same things.”

On this Sundays opponents, Moyes said: “You need to play very well against Leeds United. The manager’s done a good job over time, and every game against Leeds is full-tilt.

“It’s one end to the other, so we need to try and make sure when we get to their end, we score more goals than they do.

“We’ve been given a tough third-round draw, but we had a real tough go in the Carabao Cup too. We’ve done well in those games and we hope we can do well against Leeds United.

“At this point, of course I want to win the FA Cup and will do everything I can do to do that, but every other manager will say that.

“We’ve been given a difficult draw. We’re at home and there is no replay, so hopefully we can use London Stadium and our support to get us over the line.”

Moyes was questioned on the recent speculation surrounding Jesse Lingard: “I wouldn’t talk about players at other clubs because it’s wrong to do so. Jesse is a Manchester United player and it’s not for me to talk about him. We really appreciate everything he did for us last year.”
