Following our impressive 2-0 victory over Leeds United in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, vice-captain Declan Rice was understandably delighted and has insisted that going all the way to lift the trophy is what our side are determined to do.

“Every competition we’re in we want to take seriously,” said Rice. “The FA Cup’s one we really want to win.”

The England midfield star was once again outstanding in the victory on Sunday, and payed special praise to the fans who were in full voice, especially at the end for Bowens 93rd minute goal.

“As Mich was running through, I was thinking ‘please let it be a goal, because the place is going to erupt’!” The roar was incredible.

“These fans, every time we go out there, give a hundred per cent to us, and we want to give it back to them. The FA Cup’s such a special competition, a historic one as well, so we really want to put a run together and see how far we can go.

“It was a great game. Every time we play Leeds we know it’s going to be tough. That’s why the manager picked the strong team today. We knew we had to win.”

The win now means we will face National League North side Kidderminster Harriers, the lowest ranked team in the competition, away from home in the 4th Round meaning a real FA Cup encounter awaits our high flying Irons.

Although Rice is confident in whoever we would be tied against and rightly so. “Give us anyone!” the midfielder declared.

“You’ve got to play everyone and if you want to get to the final you’re probably going to have to beat the best, so we want to take who we get.”
