Despite leading 2-0 at half time, Jarrod Bowen was happy to settle for a share of the points against a world class Manchester City side.

It was an eventful and highly emotional afternoon in East London, as our West Ham side faced the title chasing Citizens in what was Mark Nobles final home match as a player before retirement.

West Ham put in a spirited display which arguably deserved more than a point, however I think most would agree that it was a positive result considering the opponent and what they were fighting for.

Out Hammers never looked out of place and executed the counter attack game plan to perfection, with the visitors simply struggling to contain the power, pace and precision in our gameplay.

Bowen was again a stand out performer, bagging a brace with 2 wonderfully taken goals, again having the football world asking if his time is now to be playing on the international stage.

“Obviously, we’re disappointed to concede a two-goal lead, but you’ve also got to look at it on the other hand – the opposition that we’re up against, league leaders at the moment and they’re a world class team,” said Bowen.

“We knew that they’d have a reaction and come back into the game. We’ll take the point in the end because we’re up against a superb team.

“We knew before the game we’d be able to get in behind by timing our runs, that’s one of the things that we worked on, then it was about me keeping my cool in front of goal.

“I thought I’d missed the first one, and I had the chance to get the third but it was blocked – I’ll take getting two goals against this team today.”

The prolific Hammers forward also paid special mention to the retiring Mark Noble, and emphasised that the day really was all about him.

“We didn’t want to lose the game for Nobes today, but I think the whole day today was about him,” the No20 concluded.

“You saw the send-off at the end and just the way the fans adore him and us players do as well, you can speak about how much it means.

“I think everyone knows how much it means but you know, just what a guy!”
