Ben Johnson is readying himself for a fresh new season ahead with a target to make steps forward in his career.

Johnson, who is another product of our proud Academy, has impressed for the club since making his bow back in 2018, however the Irons defender now wants to add more consistency to his game and become a more senior figure at the club.

He has already shown great leadership and maturity in recent weeks, by declaring that he will be taking over the dressing room cleaning responsibilities from the retiring Mark Noble, with many fans delighted to se that rich tradition continue.

“It’s definitely going to be my job, commencing from next season,” said Johnson. “I’ve seen what Nobes has done and it’s something I’m going to take on board, maybe because no one else may do it.

“It will be an honour for me to do it and keep the tradition of that.”

In terms of his development and eagerness to make further strides forward in his career, Johnson again displayed great maturity in knowing what the next personal targets are for him in the upcoming campaign.

“I think my main aim is to be consistent. No matter who I’m playing for, in whatever competition I’m playing in. I want to be confident in my own ability.

“I’d like to say I was reliable last season and I’m looking to maintain that in the new season. I’ve done it for Club and I’ve started doing it for country, and I want to continue doing that.”
