West Ham overcame Ipswich Town in a 2-1 pre-season match victory on a hot night in Suffolk.

Our Hammers squad were spilt in half, with the other heading to Boreham Wood which saw out a 1-1 draw, courtesy of a fine Said Benrahma free kick which the home side went on to level later in the game.

Against Ipswich David Moyes picked a squad mixed with seniors and youth, which showcased an impressive level of fitness so early after the start of the pre-season period.

The squad included both Aaron Cresswell and new signing Flynn Downes, who were both up against their former club in what ultimately was a tough test in difficult temperatures.

Our Hammers goals in the match came from each half, with the first being scored by French international Kurt Zouma, who slotted in from close range. Dan Chesters doubled our lead after firing in a re-bound from an incredible strike from the impressive Harrison Ashby, although the home side did make West Ham earn the victory.

Kane Vincent-Young of the home side scored a header into the second half but ultimately David Moyes’ Irons fully deserved the win in what will be seen as a positive step on our journey towards the kick off of the new season in a few weeks time.
