The West Ham Way’s Pre-Match Events are back, with the first game of the season against Man City with Special Guest being former player and now coach, Steve Potts!
The event will be from 12:30pm-3:30pm, allowing plenty of time to get to the game. O’Neills is a 5 minute walk from Leytonstone station which is 2 stops away from Stratford on the Central Line. The venue also has adequate parking if you wish to drive and leave you car there or drive onto the game. The venue is kitted out in West Ham kits, posters and memorabilia. There are screen showing classic West Ham games and goals. We have DJ Pulse on the decks (Dave Walker) and it is all you can drink on selected alcoholic drinks. The feedback we have received for each event has been amazing and I am sure this will be the case again.
We are waiting for confirmation of the academy fixtures before we know for certain who the guest is for this event but we guarantee that it will be a good one. If all goes to plan and the fixtures are kind we hope to welcome the legend that is Steve Potts to his first ever event. Steve made a total of 506 appearances fore the club including 399 league games. He scored his only goal in a 7-1 over Hull which was in fact our very own Dave Walker’s first game that he attended. Pottsy played from the 1984-85 season all the way up to 2000-2001 season. The American born hammer is now the under 23’s coach and can speak insightfully on the current team and players too. Not only this but his son Dan has played for the club (he now plays for Luton Town) and his other son Freddie is currently in the squad too. Our host Mark Ward, from the 1986 team, is a former teammate of Potts and is sure to bring out the best of him with his own scouse wit.
Our location is O’Neill’s in Leytonstone which is a spacious, comfortable venue that has a state of the art sound system and a large projector showing footage of classic games and goals. For those driving to this event, there is also a generous amount of parking spaces available at no cost and the venue is easily accessible from the A12, M11 and M25.
