David Moyes has spoken to the press ahead of our Premier League clash against bogey side Brighton & Hove Albion at London Stadium this Sunday.

Our Hammers go into the match in high spirits following a positive 3-1 victory over Viborg FF in the Europa Conference League Group Stage qualifier on Thursday night, and the boss was pleased to see his side get the job done.

“We took three pretty good goals out of it,” said Moyes to the press & whufc.com. “Micky getting a goal, Gianluca too and Jarrod getting back in the goals.

“You can easily slip up in these games, it was a tough one, but we got there in the end!”

With new summer signing Gianluca Scamacca impressing and also getting on the scoresheet, the boss tempered the expectations so early into his West Ham United career.

“I don’t think it is fair to judge him right away,” stated the boss. “We will bring him into the Premier League gradually but we’ve seen enough to see he will bring a lot to us. I think in time he will have an impact.”

Another player who caught the eye was the returning Angelo Ogbonna, and Moyes was equally pleased with what he saw from the Hammers defender.

“Obviously getting the first game, the first win, some of the players coming back onto the pitch is important,” said the Irons manager.

“We gave Angelo a chance to get back on the pitch – maybe a little earlier than we would have liked because of the players available – and he did well.”

Finally Moyes was asked about this Sundays opponents, Brighton, who West Ham have failed to beat since their return to the top flight back in 2017.

“They have a good team, a manager who is doing very well, a structure they play to and have a lot of things going for them,” added Moyes.

“We finished about them last year though and we have to show that on Sunday.”
