David Moyes has confirmed that Michail Antonio is likely to be out of tomorrows Europa Conference League match with Anderlecht as his is suffering with illness.

Our man-in-the-know ExWHUEmployee earlier reported on Patreon that Antonio was missing from training, and had also cancelled a scheduled podcast appearance this week.

David Moyes has since been speaking to the press ahead of our Group B match, in which West Ham can achieve top spot with a win, and the manager confirmed that Antonio is a major doubt due to sickness.

The Hammers boss however did make clear it wasn’t anything too serious and gave the impression our Number 9 isn’t far away from getting back to action, whilst also giving praise to fellow striker Gianluca Scamacca, who is getting to grips with his new surroundings in East London fast.

“Michail Antonio has a wee bit of a cold, which has kept him out of training for a day or two,” stated Moyes. “So we’re a little unsure on him. We’ve got a couple of knocks and niggles but I think we’ll be ok.

On Scamacca Moyes said: “I think I’ve been impressed by him from day one. Some of the stuff he has done is really good. He had a virus at the start so it’s taken us a bit of time to get him going. The version we’ve got at the moment has done really good but we think he can go even better.”
