David Moyes has been given a massive lift ahead of our match with Arsenal on Boxing Day as Nayef Aguerd has returned.

The Moroccan international today was welcomed back to Rush Green to join his fellow Hammers as preparations are well under way ahead of the Premier League restart.

Having Aguerd back in the fold is a huge boost for Moyes, with the defender hopefully passed fit and healthy to start against the Gunners as West Ham look to get a so far under-whelming season up and running.

Moyes hasn’t underplayed the Moroccans importance to the squad when speaking to the press, as reported by Football London, with the manager stating that he could make the difference this campaign.

“We wanted him a year before and waited a long time to get him,” admitted Moyes. “He’s a really good footballer so hopefully he’ll improve us in the second half of the season.”

The boss also stated that the player will undergo a fitness test in the hope he will be cleared to face the league leader in 2 days time in what starts a period of crucial games for the club and Moyes.

“Nayef had a virus and an injury,” added the boss. “So they were reasons for why he came off and didn’t start. He’ll be back in tomorrow, so we’ll see how he is.”
