Former West Ham player and Academy graduate Harrison Ashby has made a statement regarding his exit from East London.

The right-back who put pen to paper on a deal with Newcastle this week, after West Ham accepted a £3m offer from the Magpies, penned an emotional farewell having been with the cockney boys since the age of 9.

It was a move that hasn’t sat well with many associated with the club, with Ashby showcasing what a player he could be in the future in the chances he was awarded with the first team under David Moyes last season.

Sadly, Ashby decided a move up north was his preferred next move, despite West Ham attempting to change his mind in the recent months.

Following his departure, Ashby has thanked the club for all that it has given him whilst wishing West Ham success going forward without him.

“I would like to say thank you to all the staff, players and fans at West Ham,” stated Ashby.

“Being at the club since the age of 9 has been an incredible experience. I’ve made some lifelong friends and met some amazing people along the way.

“I wish the club and the fans all the very best in the future.”
