David Moyes has spoken to the press ahead of our return to Premier League action this Saturday, with a trip to high flying Newcastle set to prove a stern test for the under pressure Moyes.

There is no disguising that the current league standings is simply nowhere near the expected level for West Ham, with many hoping the club would be again chasing the European spots this campaign, but instead find ourselves fighting a battle to remain in the top flight.

However things appear to be on the turn, with only 1 defeat recorded in the last 5 matches in all competitions, although the trip to Newcastle is certainly being seen as the real test as to whether our Hammers really are turning a big corner this season.

Moyes has stated to the press, as reported by Football London, that new-signing Danny Ings has a chance of featuring against the Magpies on Saturday, in what will be a huge lift for all connected with the club.

“Danny Ings is doing quite well,” stated Moyes. “He has a chance for tomorrow.” The  boss though did confirm however that the match will come too soon for Kurt Zouma, Gianluca Scamacca and Max Cornet – although he did provide a somewhat positive update. “All getting better. I can’t give you an exact date on any.”

The boss admitted that its crunch time for his side now, but stated that he has full confidence in his side, also indicating that Bowen is now back in form.

“We have a good side,” said the boss. “Not shown it as much as we should have done. Getting closer to the business end of the season. Last few games has given us something to talk about. It’s great to see Jarrod scoring!

“Winning is always the key. Would like performances to improve. Now at the moment we have to pick up points. Hopefully moving in the right direction.”
