West Ham captain Declan Rice has called on his teammates to build on the excellent win over Nottingham Forest and deliver success despite a difficult season so far.

Our Hammers came away with the much-needed three points at the weekend over relegation rivals Forest at the London Stadium, by sweeping aside Steve Coopers side 4-0 in what was one of the most comprehensive performances of this campaign to date.

It was a performance and result that has injected confidence into a season that has been wanting, with West Ham failing to live up to the expectations that were firmly in place at the beginning after a summer of significant outlay.

However, captain Declan Rice, who was once again instrumental in the victory over Forest whilst also bagging a stunning goal, believes that West Ham can now look forward to moving away from the bottom end of the table – and finally deliver some silverware.

“It is really exciting,” Rice told the clubs Official Website. “It is important that we have a group that will stick together.

“On days like today, when we can get the fans on side, hopefully, we can keep that going until the end of the season. We’ve got Manchester United in the cup. We are due a win there for so long now.”

West Ham head up to North on Wednesday to face an in-form Manchester United side in the FA Cup, and also have the Europa Conference League knockout stages on the horizon too.

The England midfielder believes it is now time West Ham finally landed a trophy, and it would certainly be a excellent conclusion to a season which hasn’t been easy for all connected with the club,

“Let’s be real,” added Rice. “West Ham, we are due a trophy now, and we have got the squad.”
