West Ham striker Michail Antonio has received criticism after failing to capitalise on big chances in the loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup.

The Hammers forward was guilty of missing a golden opportunity in the first half, when he was set free one-on-one with David De Gea, only for the forward to fire a shot straight at the goalkeeper – much to the frustration of all connected with the club.

Following the defeat, in which David Moyes’ side threw away a 1-0 lead after dominating much of the play up to that point, former Manchester United captain made his thoughts clear when assessing the miss from Antonio, highlighting his lack of killer instinct at times in front of goal.

“He is not a natural goalscorer we have seen that in the first half, it’s just not there,” Keane told ITV. “You didn’t expect him to score both of those chances and they were huge opportunities.”

In the second half, with our Irons leading 1-0, Antonio was once again in the spotlight for an opportunity missed when the striker opted to fire a shot at De Gea when he had teammates to square to – which would have doubled the advantage and possibly lead to a victory.

Fellow ITV pundit and former West Ham striker Ian Wright also echoed Keanes thoughts, highlighting how big the chance was that simply was wasn’t capitalised on.

“You have got to roll it across because it puts you 2-0 up,” added the former Hammer. “You have to give yourself a chance because you know Manchester United are going to come.”
