West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca has been backed to be a huge success in East London by a coach at former club Lazio.

The Italian international, who signed for West Ham last summer from Sassuolo for a fee in the region of £35m, has seen has first season in the Premier League disrupted by injury – with the player only recently returning to action after a lengthy lay-off.

Scamacca’s absence prompted the club to make a January swoop for former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Danny Ings – a move that has understandably created much speculation over the long term future of Scamacca at West Ham.

Despite the concerns from many associated with the club, ExWHUEmployee reported that the hiereachy believe the player to be happy at West Ham, and this was subsequently echoed by the player himself who stated he is settled well into life in London.

Emiliano Leva, a coach who worked with Scamacca at Italian giants Lazio, has now given his full backing for the player to be a success at West Ham – stating he fully expects him to be the number one striker at the club.

“I can certainly tell you that he has all the potential to make the leap into a big one,” said Leva.

Questioned on the recent links to a possible move back to Italy with Juventus, Leva admitted that he is not surprised considering how well Scamacca is regarded, but believes he’ll instead shine at West Ham.

“Even a year ago, his name was associated with these teams and more,” added the Italian coach. “But you will see that in the meantime he will return to being the man with West Ham.”
