West Ham have been handed an injury return boost going into our relegation 6-pointer against Southampton this weekend.

Our Hammers are at the opposite end of the table to where we were were expecting this season, with relegation becoming a real possibility. The battle to stay in the Premier League this season is set to be one of the most exciting in the competition’s history with just 4 points separating bottom place and 12th.

With West Ham currently finding ourselves 18th a win against the Saints, who find themselves bottom of the league and just one point behind West Ham, could be make or break for both sides’ seasons.

David Moyes’ side have received a boost heading into the clash with Łukasz Fabianski returning from injury. Fabianski suffered from a fractured cheekbone and eye socket after a collision against Forest in which his side managed a 4-0 win. He returned to training over a week ago wearing a mask and is expected to be available for selection on Sunday.

While it’s not yet known whether Fabianski will start or whether French international Areola is going to be allowed to keep his place, what we do know is that it’s great for Moyes to have, what should be, a fully fit squad. There are some doubts over a player who picked up an injury at Old Trafford but West Ham remain hopeful that he will also be available to be called upon. The recent return of Maxwell Cornet could be crucial to the final stretch of the season and the Scotsman will be looking at what his involvement will be in the coming match.

Bare in mind it’s impossible to know if any last minute injuries occur but, as it stands, a pretty much fully fit West Ham are looking to face a Southampton side, potentially, without key players in Salisu and Che Adams. Whatever the case may be, both teams will be desperate to win this one and hopefully that translates into an exciting encounter between the two.
