West Ham manager David Moyes was delighted to see his side fight back for a well deserved point against league leaders Arsenal at London Stadium.

Our Hammers’ fears seemed to be a reality when falling 2-0 behind inside the opening 10 minutes to send many back to the concourse fearing the worst.

Arsenal looked dominant and slick in their play as we struggled to get to grips as Jesus and Odegaard fired the Gunners ahead with the game looking gone with barely any of it played.

But West Ham didn’t fold, and in fact took the game to the visitors as the crowd grew to the occasion, sending nerves starting to appear in the Arsenal back line.

Then just after the half hour mark Rice dispossessed Partney to play a ball to Paqueta who was fouled and a penalty was rewarded, which was fired in by Benrahma to give our Hammers a big boost as we sought to level proceedings.

Half time arrived with a sense that Arsenal were starting to lose their nerve, but soon after the restart they had a penalty from a Antonio handball, which to the delight of West Ham – Saka sent wide of the post.

Then it was our Hammers who struck again to send a shockwave in the Premier League title race as Bowen volleyed home a Kehrer floated ball to send London Stadium wild and Arsenal to their knees.

It was then on in a fierce encounter with our Hammers fighting to take the lead with at times the Gunners hanging on, with Antonio heading off the bar and Bowen unlucky with a fierce strike that was blocked,

It ended however 2-2 in a thrilling game which David Moyes was rightly delighted with, and was proud of the performance of his players after  wretched season.

“We tried to not make anything easy, looked a little bit quicker all round the pitch,” said the West Ham boss.

“We got up to people faster, so there was a lot of things that we did better than we did before. We do, we need to get back to it.

“We’re pleased, the players are pleased because it was a big result. Of course you want to win, but getting a draw today, especially after being 2-0 down, is an excellent result.”

Moyes also gave special mention to Rice, Paqueta and Soucek after a tireless display as they overcome an talented Arsenal midfield which proved to be key in obtaining the draw.

“I think the three midfield boys, if I was going to say any, the three midfield boys trying to get up to Arsenal’s midfield and be competitive and it’s not easy, because they’re so good, getting up to their players as often as they could.

“I thought in the end, we just about got on top of it and we got back in the game and we had one or two other opportunities from it as well.”
