Pablo Fornals has reflected on what was an emotional moment for him as he capped off a memorable win on Sunday with a stunning goal.
Pablo Fornals has waited for his chance to play a part in the West Ham team after a long season of being on the bench. He has managed to bag 37 goals in his career but it is certain that none come close to the feeling of this one.
West Ham took home the all important three points after their visit to the Vitality Stadium. Pablo Fornals was one of the goal scorers alongside Michail Antonio, Declan Rice and Lucas Paqueta.
Finally finding the words to describe his goal, Fornals spoke to the Official West Ham Website on his feelings after the long awaited goal. He described it as “a beautiful moment” and also explained how lucky he felt to be able to score the goal.
“When you have a chance like that, you just need a bit of luck – the ball bounced, the ‘keeper took a step to the other side and it went in. Everything was good in that moment, so thank God for that.” he added.
West Ham’s form away from home has not been the greatest this season. But on Sunday, it looked as if things clicked and confidence was restored within the team. The hammers were yet to score within the first 15 minutes of a game, however yesterday they managed to score two in twelve minutes.
“Before the game, they were ahead of us in the table and they’re doing pretty well at home, so everybody did a great job.” Pablo explained. “As Dec said in an interview just now, we never scored in the first 15 minutes of a Premier League game this season before today, and now we scored twice.”
There is no doubt that Pablo is a man that loves his club, and his determination and fight on the pitch shows just that. The start of the season looked to be rough for the team, with a struggle to stay out of the relegation zone. Having 4 seasons in East London under his belt, the Spaniard has been a pivotal player for West Ham. Pablo spoke about the teams commitment and the excitement of the Conference League in which the hammers will be facing the semi final in the coming weeks.
“This season we brought a lot of new faces in, but still most of the lads have been here for a long time. I’ve been with most of them for four seasons, and everybody is committed with this team.” Fornals explained.
“Not having so many minutes, I’m trying to improve my finishing so i was really happy and lucky to score that beautiful goal”
