West Ham U18’s made history last night by clinching the FA Youth Cup over Arsenal to make it a trophy double for our Academy of Football.

The stunning performance from a group that have been dominant all season, saw our Hammers clinch the cup for the first time since our famous 1999 win which included Joe Cole and Michael Carrick.

Fans packed out the away end with 7,000 tickets sold out and in full voice to cheer on the young cockney boys over our London rivals, with Declan Rice and Mark Noble also watching on from the sidelines.

Our Hammers recovered well after going 1-0 down thanks to a fierce strike from Arsenals Benjamin, sending a warning that West Ham would have to be right up for the occasion to get the win.

Our Hammers were level soon after with Scarles intercepting well which eventually fell to Ibrahim who scored high into the net.

It was from this moment that West Ham’s quality and dominance showed, with Marshall firing our Hammers ahead minutes later to send the away fans celebrating knowing that Arsenal were now on the back foot.

Then right before the break a moment of magic from Kodua saw the young midfielder capitalise on a mistake to lob the keeper in style from 30 yards.

Arsenal to their credit didn’t give in, and in fact had West Ham defending hard for periods of the second half as they fought to get back into the game, but our Hammers quality proved too much as the game was firmly put to bed.

Casey headed in a Scarles corner to send the away fans wild knowing victory was all but assured. But then it was confirmed when Briggs wrapped up the famous victory at the Emirates Stadium.

The West Ham Way Podcast hosts Dave Walker were understandably thrilled and proud as our young Hammers produced another famous moment for our club and famed Academy.

“Brilliant!” exclaimed Ex “Well done everyone involved with this double winning season! The future is bright.”

While Walker added that the result and performance was “absolutely outstanding.”
