West Ham fell to defeat against Liverpool but ExWHUEmployee believes that the officiating cost our Hammers dearly.

Despite West Ham going into the fixture full of confidence, Liverpool were able to showcase their qualities for large periods, although David Moyes’ side looked dangerous throughout.

Our Hammers took the lead from a stunning strike from Paqueta, who fired in from outside the area after sublime build up play between the Brazilian and his teammates.

Liverpool though turned the game with Gakpo firing in an excellent effort beyond the reach of Fabianski, but our Hammers didn’t let it allow heads to drop as the game always felt on a knife edge.

Bowen thought he’d put West Ham ahead again when he shot in the bottom corner after some excellent build up play. But unfortunately the goal was chalked off for offside.

Jurgen Klopps side then went ahead from a corner which was dispatched by Matip to send all 3 points back to Liverpool.

The game wasn’t without controversy though then West Ham felt a penalty should be awarded when Thiago clearly handled the ball in the area, only for the referee to ignore and VAR to not review.

Speaking after the match, ExWHUEmployee echoed all fan’s’ frustrations but wanted to focus on the positives also.

“I thought we played well,” stated Ex. “We created a lot of chances and with better decision making and of course a less biased ref we could have got at least a point.

“To not even look at the hand ball on VAR shows pure ignorance and in my opinion how the officials always try to favour the bigger clubs. Anyway, now onto Palace and a win against them will be huge.”
