David Moyes has admitted that there have been too many errors made this season as West Ham fell to a 3-0 loss against Manchester City at the Etihad.

Although the result was a disappointing one of course, the performance was one to take positives from as our Hammers proved to be a difficult nut to crack for the title chasing hosts, but ultimately Moyes’ side were undone with the boss bemoaning errors that have again cost West Ham.

The first half saw a well drilled showing as the hosts struggled to create any real clear cut chances, although a strike just before half time saw the ball hit the post and narrowly avoid going over the line.

Moyes would have been pleased at the break with the effort and organisation shown, but there was a lingering fear that the Citizens would ramp up things to get back into pole position in the title race.

West Ham were undone just after the break with Nathan Ake heading in after a lapse in concentration was ultimately capitalised on with the game suddenly looking out of reach.

Goals from Haaland and Foden wrapped up the victory for the hosts but it was certainly not a showing to be embarrassed by as West Ham came away having taken a minor knock to our goal difference with the manager having to field a weaker side due to sickness within the squad.

Moyes was understandably downbeat but couldn’t fault the effort on show, but again admitted that it was painful to concede a soft opening goal after playing the first have of the game so well drilled.

“There were a couple of individual errors, which we didn’t defend the cross into the back post well enough,” said the Hammers boss. “Ake gets a goal, the second one, we give it away when we are in a good position.

“The third, you couldn’t do much about, the boy takes a great volley, but it takes a deflection. I think individual errors are part of it, there have been too many this year.”

Despite the errors, Moyes have praise to his team for the efforts they put in, whilst also providing an update on the wellness situation in the squad, and Vladimir Coufal – who unfortunately went off injured.

“Arsenal have been here and been turned over, so I don’t think you can kid yourself and just turn up here and without any structure to what you do,” added Moyes, as reported by Football London.

”I thought in the main, the players who were in tonight have done a really good job.

“We are not sure if it is maybe a bit of food poisoning that they have maybe picked up at the training ground or whether it was at the hotel and one them we think has got a virus. I’m not a doctor, I don’t know if antibiotics can fix it that quickly or how you work it, I’m not quite sure. Hopefully, they will have a chance for the weekend.

“Coufal felt his hamstring. He’ll have a scan in the morning and we’ll see how he is.”
