West Ham manager David Moyes has provided a welcome boost over the fitness of Michail Antonio ahead of Brentford this Sunday.
Our Hammers travel to West London to take on the Bees looking to guarantee Premier League football for next season after taking a 2-1 lead in our Europa Conference League Semi-Final last night.
Although many would be forgiven for being a tad distracted by the 2nd leg next Thursday, David Moyes will be eager to put to bed any lingering relegation fears so the full focus can shift to lifting our first trophy in 43 years after this weekend.
Speaking to the press ahead of this weekend, as reported by the clubs Official Website, Moyes provided a very positive update on Antonio, who was seen limping following our win over AZ Alkmaar last night.
“We are still assessing a lot of players, we are less than 24 hours from the game,” stated the boss. “There are obviously knocks and bruises but I am hoping Michail Antonio is not too bad.
“We will assess him but he should be good for Sunday.”
“Coufal is starting to do some light jogging. He has got a slight hamstring tweak but he is a boy who wants to play and wants to get back quickly.”
The boss admitted that this season has been consumed with Premier League survival, and stated that the cub will be looking to tinker the squad this summer rather than a huge influx of players like last summer.
“For the most part of the planning is put on the back burner until you have kept your Premier League status,” confessed Moyes. “The truth is the only focus has been on staying in the Premier League.
“We have brought in a big number of players last summer so I see [this summer] more as tinkering and bits and pieces being done here and there. I see a change here or there and an addition or two.”
