West Ham already have enough points to avoid the Premier League trapdoor this season, it has been stated by Chris Sutton.

Our Hammers have endured a difficult domestic campaign, having spent the entirety of it at the wrong end trying to escape the relegation scrap, however Sutton believes that has already been achieved by David Moyes’ side.

There is no denying that performances have somewhat improved since the turn of the year, with West Ham producing some excellent displays – most notably against Bournemouth, Arsenal and Manchester United.

The points achieved by our Hammers have seen us create a healthy gap between the teams below, whilst also holding a superior goal difference over most, although we are not quite mathematically safe yet.

Moyes will be hoping West Ham can achieve that feat this weekend which would allow us to solely focus on the Europa Conference League, with our Irons just one step away from the final in Prague.

Former England striker and now pundit Chris Sutton, speaking on the BBC, believes West Ham already have enough to avoid the drop, although admitted we need to find a balance until it is mathematically confirmed.

“Unless everything goes against them, I think West Ham already have enough points to stay up,” stated Sutton. “Their superior goal difference means Leeds need to win all three of their remaining games to overhaul them, while Leicester need seven points from a possible nine.

“But the Hammers aren’t quite safe yet, which means they have still got to find a balance over the next few days about who to play in their Premier League games and Europa Conference League semi-final against AZ Alkmaar.”
