West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek has stated that he and his teammates are eager to put the Semi-Final exit behind them tonight by reaching the Final in Prague.

Our Hammers travel to the Netherlands to face AZ Alkmaar with a 2-1 lead from the 1st leg firmly in the knowledge that a place in the Final to lift the Europa Conference League trophy is in touching distance.

The lead though is a slender one and West Ham will have to get the game plan spot on if they are to overcome the Dutch side, with their home support set to create a tougher occasion for David Moyes than in the 1st leg in East London.

Soucek has admitted, when talking to the clubs Official Website that he has been unable to watch back our exit from the Europa League last season, and now believes there is extra motivation to go further this season.

“We were very disappointed after the semi-final defeat [by Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League] and even for a few days or a few months after that that we didn’t reach the final, said the Czech international.

“It is even more motivation for all of us that we are one game from the final and we are 100 per cent on it. Especially because we lost last year, we want even more to get there this year.”

The Hammers midfielder admitted that domestically this season has been a struggle for the club, however it could be turned into a very special one if West Ham are able to lift our first major trophy in 43 years.

“The last two years were perfect in the Premier League,” added Soucek. “We finished sixth and seventh and got European football for the next season.

“Obviously this season we are not happy with our position in the Premier League and we want to be higher, but if we win this trophy I think it will be a very successful season.”
