West Ham have received punishment for crowd trouble in the Europa Conference League final, with Dave Walker giving his thoughts.

Ever since the incident when Fiorentina captain Cristiano Biraghi was struck with a cup from the travelling Hammers fans, it was inevitable that a punishment would be issued.

Today UEFA have announced the verdict, and it states that West Ham have received a 1 match away ban for away fans for the first match of this upcoming seasons Europa League.

Our Hammers have also been banned from selling tickets for a 2nd away match, although this is suspended for 2 years.

The West Ham Way Podcast co-host Dave Walker, who was in attendance, expressed his disappointment but admitted that the punishment could have been greater.

“Gutted that the fans are going to miss our first away trip in the Europa League,” stated Walker. “However, some might say the punishment could’ve been worse so we just have to accept it and not make that mistake again.”
