West Ham are set to make enquiries surrounding Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, it has been reported by ExWHUEmployee.

Our Hammers are widely known to be active in the transfer market at present as we look to strengthen the squad ahead of the Premier League kick off, which is over 3 weeks away.

Following the sale of Declan Rice, midfield is a key area in which the club are exploring options, with talks underway with targets Denis Zakaria of Juventus and Edson Alvarez of Ajax.

One player is highly rated French international Fofana, who Ex has reported has been scouted by West Ham a number of times last season.

Fofana, who is 24 and a key player for both club and country, was reported in the press to be a target for Arsenal should they have been unsuccessful in their pursuit of Rice. While Newcastle once again are reported to hold an interest.
