Former West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini has been given high praise following his move back to River Plate.

The Argentine Jewel, who became a fan favourite during his 8 years in East London, put pen to paper on a one-year contract at the club where he started his career 13 years ago.

It was an emotional return for Lanzini, who bid farewell to West Ham this summer, after lifting the Europa Conference League trophy – our first piece of silverware in 43 years.

It marked the perfect end for the Argentinian international, who gave so many special moments that will simply never be forgotten, with fans all wishing him all the success back in his home country.

River Plate are understandably delighted to have their son return to Argentina to see the latter years of his playing career back where it commenced, with their president Jorge Brito giving praise to the former Hammer.

“Manuel will be a unique player in Argentine football because of the level of play he comes from,” said the club president, as reported by BBC Sport. “He is very important for us.”
