It is now looking increasingly unlikely that Wolverhampton Wanderers will make a move to sign Michail Antonio, according to reports.

Our Hammers strikers future has been the subject of much speculation of late, with it reported he was nearing an exit from East London in January, followed by significant interest from the Saudi league in acquiring his services.

Wolves have again emerged as a club with a keen interest in the clubs number 9, with reports stating previously that a formal move was imminent.

However, it has subsequently been reported by Sky Sports presenter and The West Ham Way Transfer Show host Dharmesh Sheth, that a deal is now unlikely, with Wolves’ financial difficulties proving a stumbling block.

“I spoke to someone at Wolves yesterday, and they were pouring a little bit of cold water on it.” Dharmesh told GIVEMESPORT.

“They were saying unless it would be some kind of free transfer, then it’s unlikely Wolves would be able to sanction any kind of deal that would require a transfer fee to be involved simply because of all the financial issues that Wolves have got.”

It remains to be seen if other clubs come forward for Antonio this summer, with Everton said to be admirers but have yet to make a formal approach.

West Ham on the other hand are busy at strengthening, with James Ward-Prowse set to undertake a medical today ahead of a £30m move from Southampton.
