West Ham came away with a point to kick off our Premier League campaign against Bournemouth on the south coast.

Many were wondering how our Hammers would fare following a turbulent summer so far, with many question marks still hanging over the club.

However the lineup made surprisingly pleasant viewing to most, with an attacking side which shaped to go strong and take the game to the hosts.

Manager David Moyes would have been pleased with how his team started, playing some neat football and showing strong unity and desire.

Our Hammers should have lead early on but Souceks had effort crashed off the post as we ramped up the pressure on the hosts.

The second half started as much as the first played out, with West Ham seeming the most threatening. Then 6 minutes after the restart, we were ahead following a stunning long range strike from Jarrod Bowen.

It was at the stage though when the tempo cooled and Moyes side shifted to a more defensive mindset, appearing to be keen to secure the lead rather than improve on it.

Bournemouth gained confidence and eventually were level through Solanke with 8 minutes of normal time remaining.

West Ham though responded well and again saw an effort come off the woodwork, this time from the impressive Paqueta.

A point was what was achieved in the end, which some will feel was an opportunity missed. However the performance overall will certainly give hope for the campaign ahead.

The West Ham Way Podcast co-host and club insider ExWHUEmployee was pleased with the game in the whole, admitting it possibly was a fair outcome.

“I thought we played really well in the first half and the start of the second half,” stated Ex

“Obviously we hit the wood work twice which was unlucky, but as the game went on we got tired and probably a 1-1 draw was the fair result.”
