West Ham midfielder Edson Alvarez believes a positive result can happen tonight if we can play like we have been so far this season.

Our Hammers face Luton later in their first Premier League home match, knowing a win would take us back to top spot in the Premier League.

It is expected to be an electric atmosphere, with Luton looking to get their first points on the board – but West Ham will be feeling confident of upsetting the occasion.

Alvarez, who has been impressive since joining the club this summer, feels that David Moyes’ side need to show fight to get the job done tonight.

“I know Luton Town have a special stadium,” said the Mexican international to the club’s Official Website. “But we need to go there and show what this team can do.

“If we stay together and do our things right, then we know we can have a good result. We have to go there and fight and focus on ourselves.

“Winning builds confidence and when you have wins against two good teams then it gives you extra motivation to keep it going.

“We are looking forward now. We don’t want this to be a short period of wins. We want to keep this going for a long period of matches.”

Another key area for excitement tonight is the chance of seeing new signing Mohammed Kudus in action for the first time for the club, and Alvarez is particularly delighted to see his former teammate join.

“I’m super happy and super excited that Mohammed has come to West Ham,” added the midfielder.

“I know what he can bring to the team. He’s a very talented player and a very good guy, and I’m looking forward to playing again with him. He’s looking very happy and he’s looking forward to showing what he can do in the Premier League.”
