West Ham equalled our best start to a Premier League season following a well-deserved win at Luton Town to go top of the Premier League.

In what was the 3rd away match in the opening 4 in the season, our Hammers maintained our stunning start to the campaign by making it 3 wins on the spin and take our tally to 10 points from a possible 12 – on par with our 1999/2000 season under Harry Redknapp.

David Moyes’ side last night were dominant for large parts of the match against Luton – who were playing their first Premier League game at Kenilworth Road, with our Hammers spoiling the party.

Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring on 37 minutes after an sublime cross from Lucas Paqueta, which Bowen headed in the bottom corner to send our Hammers into the break with a lead.

The second half saw West Ham control the proceedings, with Luton looking a side with fight but lacking in quality, especially in the final third.

Despite the dominance of David Moyes’ side, a second goal was needed to give that vital cushion. It looked like it arrived through the again-impressive Emerson, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Then with 5 minutes of normal time left, Kurt Zouma ultimately got the winner, with an excellent header from a well taken James Ward-Prowse corner, with our captain making sure to celebrate back to the home fans who had booed him throughout.

There was a late scare when Luton pulled one back with just 2 minutes of added on time left through Anderson, but it was West Hams night as we walked away with a deserved 3 points and back to top of the league.

ExWHUEmployee, who was at the match, was understandably delighted with the result and gave his thoughts on yet another win in this so-far very positive campaign.

“It was a result I expected us to get yesterday,” stated our Podcast co-host and club insider. “And although the score line suggests it was close, I felt we were in total control and never really had to get into our full stride.

“The league table is a beautiful thing right now!”
