West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen has praised his teammate Lucas Paqueta, stating the Brazilian is getting better every game he plays.
Bowen and Paqueta linked up well in the victory over Freiburg last night, with Paqueta getting on the end of a Bowen cross superbly to head our Hammers into the lead in Germany.
The victory was a big one for David Moyes’ side, with many stating that he fixture was arguably our toughest of the group stage, and it leaves our Irons top of Group A on 6 points from 6.
Bowen, who this week deservedly received a call up to the England squad, praised his teammate Paqueta, who again showed how hard he is willing to work alongside displaying incredicle skill and flair.
“Lucas gets better with every game we play in and you never know what he’s going to do with the ball,” Bowen told the clubs Official Wesbite. “He’s got so much about him, with so much flair and control. But the one main thing when playing for this Club is the hard work. And you can see he’s always running around, wanting to win the ball back and take the tackles from the opposition.
“He takes the pressure off us and, when we need a focal point, we know we can rely on him. He’s getting better in every game and I love playing with him.”
The England winger also admitted that there is a strong desire from the team to advance to the group stage in style, with the aim to emulate our formidable record help last season in our Europa Conference League success.
“When the draw is made, you want to see who you’re playing,” added Bowen. “If you progress out of the group with six wins out of six – like we did last season in the UEFA Europa Conference League – then that’s always the aim and ambition for us.
“That can certainly give you confidence in the group stages and makes a statement to the other teams that we might play.”
