The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker & ExWHUEmployee have given their thoughts on the Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal tonight.

David Moyes’ side go into the game off the back of a bad week for the club, with 3 losses recorded – the last being a lacklustre home defeat to Premier League strugglers Everton on Sunday.

The Hammers boss will be hoping for a significant response from his team, with the visit of Arsenal set to prove a stern test for West Ham – although there is a feeling that if Moyes opts for his strongest available side, then there could be a good chance of upsetting our London rivals.

Moyes has already hinted that Lucas Paqueta and Edson Alvarez are likely to feature, with both players suspended for our Premier League clash with Brentford on Saturday.

Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee both want to see Moyes be bold and ambitious tonight, especially with the knowledge that a win would see West Ham advance to the quarter-final stage.

“A result tonight would definitely lift the mood,” stated Walker. “We need to start well and try and get an early goal. I don’t know what sort of team Arsenal will be starting but we have to play our best side and have a crack at this competition.”

Ex shared Walkers thoughts, and feels there is a chance that Arsenal may opt to rest some key players for tonight.

“Tonight is a massive game for us because I genuinely think if we can get past Arsenal, we have a great chance to win a trophy that we have never won before – and our first domestic one since 1980,” said our club insider.

“I hope Moyes fields a strong side as I believe Arsenals side will be similar to their one in the last round, which had players rested! I hope it will also be a great atmosphere too.”
