Emerson Palmieri admits to being “disappointed” with West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace but hopes his side can keep their unbeaten run going.
A win against Crystal Palace would have taken West Ham just three points outside of the top 5 but, unfortunately, it was not to be.
Left-back Emerson was one of the Hammer’s better players in the London derby, especially when going forward, but he confessed “it was a tough game” at the London stadium. Adding that “it’s always against Palace it is a game like this.”
Despite winning their previous three in dramatic fashion, West Ham were unable to find a late winner but improved significantly in the closing stages of the match, Emerson believes.
“In the second half, and in the last 20 minutes, we created two or three chances to score a goal,” the Italian stated to the clubs Official Website. “But in the end, we have to take this point and now try to keep [the unbeaten] run going.”
Unsurprisingly, the standout in the match was Mohammed Kudus, who had an excellent game. He put his side ahead in the first half, finishing off some excellent build up play.. The eagles struggled to contain the Ghanaian and Emerson was not going to let his performance go under the radar.
“I think he was our best player on the pitch [against Crystal Palace],” the defender acknowledged. “Vlad put a great ball to Mo who secured another beautiful goal for us. Mo helped us a lot in the game.”
Even though Emerson confirmed that “it is a positive thing that in the last seven games, we have lost just one game,” he could not help but confess his frustration that his side didn’t come away with all three points.
“We conceded the goal, and we have to think about the next time. We are disappointed because when you play at home you want to win. And against Palace, I think it was a great opportunity for us to take the three points.”
“It’s another big game as a London derby [on Thursday]. We need to recover well because Tottenham is always a tough place to go. We respect them but we need to go there to win.”
Our Irons have a brilliant opportunity to extend their run to six games unbeaten against a Tottenham side riddled with injuries. If they can take the positives from the last 15/20 minutes of the Palace game, then there is no reason they can not get a result in the crucial London derby.
