Fabrizio Romano’s recent comments have given West Ham fans a reason to get excited about the January transfer window.
West Ham have had some huge transfer windows in recent years, from bringing in the likes of Paqueta and Kudus, to snatching Jarrod Bowen away from Crystal Palace on deadline day.
However, with the Hammers limited budget going into January, fans have prepared themselves for a quiet month but this doesn’t necessarily have to be the case. In fact, friend of The West Ham Way Fabrizio Romano suggests quite the opposite.
“I expect West Ham to be busy in January,” he told CaughtOffside, “as they’re looking at opportunities around, though it’s still too early to say anything about specific names. Nothing is advanced, but the owners and directors are working on it.”
David Moyes has made it clear that he wants to improve the squad in the coming window but Fabrizio makes it seem like this could be to a greater extent than expected.
However, it is important to note “busy” could mean a number of things. More than likely he means it in the sense that they will be doing a lot of talking with different clubs to try and find the best bang for their buck. Loans and bargains will be what the club are aiming for, but that won’t be easy given the caliber of player that they need if they are to improve their squad.
One thing’s for sure, there is never a dull moment at West Ham. You can be certain that there will be drama one way or another as the window progresses.
