Mohammed Kudus claims he is “loving” his football at West Ham and he believes his brace against Wolves was thanks to the hard work he has put in during training.

Thirty-eight-million pounds. That is all Mohammed Kudus cost West Ham. In today’s market, that is beyond a bargain for a player of his quality. Nine goals and two assists already for the Hammers this season, and he just seems to keep getting better.

Sunday’s 3-0 win against Wolves was arguably his best game in Claret and Blue. He bagged a brace that was full of class, and he has put the first goal down completely to the work he has done on the training pitch.

“I am loving my football, but most importantly the performances are impacting on the results,” he explained, when speaking to the official site. “We got the three points and that’s the most important thing for me.”

“[For the first goal] normally when you come in with your left foot, the keeper is looking at the other corner, so I went for the near corner. It went in, it was a good goal and I’m happy. Before the game I had the information from the technical team that when I come inside, I should shoot for the near corner because he’s more expecting the balls on the other corner.”

“It was in the back of my head, so when [the chance came] it was a natural flow.”

The Ghanaian’s two goals came off the back of two world-class balls from Lucas Paqueta, and he is thriving off the phenomenal passing that the Brazilian has.

“[For the second] you know the vision Lucas has with those kind of passes. As soon as we win the ball and it’s him, I just get running,” Kudus continued. “I know the ball will come. I was just one-v-one against the keeper and I did my thing.”

Unsurprisingly, it was not just Paqueta that he wanted to praise, he was also keen to praise his fellow goal-scorer Jarrod Bowen as well as the rest of the squad.

“We needed the third goal to really kill the game off. It was a beautiful goal from Jarrod and I’m not surprised with his finishing quality.”

“We support each other a lot, during the ups and the downs. You can see the togetherness and that helps a lot. Even the lads who are not playing are very supportive as well.”

After two comfortable wins, attention must quickly turn to Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Liverpool. While Kudus acknowledges “it will be another tough game” he knows “the boys will be up for it”.

Our Irons are in a brilliant position to make this season even more memorable than the last. Winning our next two games puts us in a semi-final and into a European spot. Liverpool are by far the most difficult team left in the EFL Cup, beating them gives us a real chance of winning our second piece of silverware in two years. Our record at Anfield may not be great but at this time of year, anything can happen.
