David Moyes’ imminent contract extension will bring “many years” of success to West Ham, journalist Paul Brown believes.
Over recent weeks it seems like the amount of people who are demanding for David Moyes to be sacked has reduced significantly. That should come as no surprise though given that West Ham have kept a clean sheet in their last four Premier League games, as well as beating Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United last month.
In fact, things have changed so drastically in East London that Moyes looks set to be offered a new contract.
Football is a results based business and it is hard to argue against a contract extension when he has won the club’s first major trophy since 1980 and brought them three seasons of European football in a row (with a real opportunity to make it four).
Therefore, it is completely understandable why journalist Paul Brown believed it is West Ham’s best interest to offer him a new deal.
“I think it’s only a matter of time really before Moyes does sign a new contract,” Brown told GIVEMESPORT. “He wants to stay, he feels like he’s building something for the future. Whenever we speak to him, he makes the point that he feels like a builder rather than someone who is going to bring you instant success.”
“He has actually made West Ham pretty successful with the European trophy, and they’re pushing around the European positions again in the Premier League right now, but I think he has a long-term vision for the club,” he continued.
“And I think if they’re patient and stick with him, he’ll have them consistently competing at the top end of the Premier League for many years to come, personally.”
Whether you like the football the Hammers play under Moyes or not, it seems pretty certain that he is here to stay.
While there may have been a dip in form last season, the Scotsman has turned our Irons into a serious threat to the ‘big six’ and Brown may be spot on about the stability the club has under their current manager.
