Wolves are reportedly considering making a loan offer for West Ham’s Danny Ings this month.
No matter how you look at it, Danny Ings has been extremely unsuccessful at West Ham. That is not necessary any fault of his own – he does not suit David Moyes’ system – but, when a striker scores just three goals in a calendar year, you have to say he has failed.
Considering he is one of the Hammers highest paid players, earning around 125,000 per week, it is no wonder that they are keen to offload him. Unfortunately though, it is those ridiculously high wages that will make it so difficult to move him on.
Thankfully, it seems like former West Ham player Gary O’Neil could be set to ease their wage bill a little.
Wolves are wanting to sign the Englishman on loan until the end of the season, according to The Telegraph. The Wanderers are without Hwang Hee Chan due to the Asia Cup and are keen to get someone in who can score the goals that they have lacked at times.
Presumably, they will not be able to pay his full wage given that they need to achieve a net-zero spend in order to not breach FFP. But even if they pay a good chunk of the 125k, it would help West Ham out significantly.
Interestingly, Wolves have also shown interest in acquiring the services of Said Benrahma who is another player the Hammers are eager to get rid of this January. If a deal for the duo can be reached, this could be perfect in West Ham’s own hunt to raise transfer funds.
It looks like we could be seeing the end of Danny Ings’ time as a West Ham player. There is no doubt that he will score goals again, but it has to be in a system that suits him.
