Chelsea are willing to sell striker “with the most potential” in Europe, but have slapped a massive price tag on him amidst West Ham Interest.
There are a number of players that West Ham get linked with in almost every window. Normally that is because David Moyes is a long term admirer and that certainly is the case with Chelsea’s Armando Broja.
At one point, the striker was said to be highly likely to join the Hammers, that was until he tore his cruciate ligament and was therefore sidelined for an entire season. Since returning from injury though, he has had little opportunity to prove himself in West London, despite the Blue’s striker issues. In fact, it looks like they are eager to sell the Albanian in order to raise funds for another forward this January.
Even though he is said to be open to selling Broja, Mauricio Pochettino believes that he has an incredible amount of potential, but there are certain things he needs to do in order to achieve it. “I need to be honest, he needs to use this type of game to score and to feel the net and to improve,” the Argentine stated. “Improve not only in his fitness, but his body language also. He needs to step up and to go forward and to move. He needs to be more positive.”
“The potential is amazing. We’re talking about one of the young strikers in England and in Europe with the most potential. But the problem now is he needs to push himself, and we’re going to try to help him to realise that never it is enough.”
Understandably, his injury was a massive setback in his career but Pochetinno clearly believes that the 22 year old can become one of the best around, he just needs to have the right mentality. Although these will be positive signs for West Ham, it also means that their London rivals will likely charge an incredible amount for him with Matt Law claiming they want £50 million.
Obviously, this is well outside of our Irons budget no matter who they sell. The only way that they would be able to agree a fee anywhere near that price is a loan-to-buy deal, even then it may be a bit pricey. If Chelsea are absolutely set on an outright buy, Moyes may be forced to move on to other options this month.
