Chelsea have lowered their asking price considerably for their talented young striker amidst interest from West Ham and other clubs .

It is no secret that David Moyes has a group of players that he has admired for a long time but has never been able to bring to West Ham. However, it looks like some of his wishes could come true this January.

Kalvin Phillips is one player that West Ham are close to signing that Moyes’ is a big fan of, while they could also make a move for Armando Broja.

The Hammers have been linked with a move for the Albanian for a number of years now, and this month has been no different. However, Chelsea slapped a ridiculous £50 million price tag on him, which out of almost all interest. Considering that they are desperate to raise transfer funds in order to buy a striker themselves, teamTALK have reported that they have lowered their demand significantly.

Apparently, they now only want £35 million for the 22 year old. While this is still a lot of money for West Ham who are on a limited budget due to FFP, it is much more doable. Interestingly though, the Blues may now allow a loan deal but only if there is an obligation to buy. This would suit the Irons much better – they still get their man now but can pay for him when finances aren’t as much of an issue.

Unfortunately, as you would expect, Moyes is not the only one interested in Broja with Fulham, Wolves and Crystal Palace all contemplating whether to make a move or not. If they are willing to accept a loan, this could ramp up the competition for his signature.

Moyes is obviously a big fan of the youngster, but his injury record, lack of match fitness and mediocre goalscoring record really have to be questioned. Our Irons clearly need a striker, they just need one who’s gonna hit the ground running and it seems unlikely that Broja will be able to do that.
