The West Ham players are reportedly desperate to find out what the long-term managerial situation is.
Half way into February and West Ham are still without a win in 2024. What makes this even more disappointing is that they’ve had some extremely winnable fixtures over the past month and a half. Unfortunately things have gone from bad to worse for David Moyes as Arsenal swept the floor with his side in a 6-0 thrashing on Sunday.
Following their good form in the first half of the season, it had been reported that the Scotsman was close to being offered a new contract by the club but things seem to have changed. There is now doubt whether or not he will even last until the end of the season, let alone be given an extension.
Understandably, the uncertainty can create a lot of toxicity not just among fans, but with the players as well. According to Football Insider, the squad are wanting to know what Moyes’ future at West Ham looks like.
Despite what others have said, the news outlet still believes that Moyes is extremely popular amongst the players. For example, Lucas Paqueta once saw him as somewhat of a father figure – all though this could have changed, it goes to show he clearly has a deep connection with the group.
Our Irons are still in an extremely strong position and have a chance at earning another season of European football. However, they must maximise points with the next four fixtures all being winnable.
The board clearly are still hoping that Moyes can turn things around and, in turn, give him a new contract, but this poor form can only continue for so long before they are forced to take action. Either way, for the benefit of everyone involved with the club, they need to make a firm decision on the manager’s future as soon as possible.
