West Ham lose out on potential replacement for David Moyes to a London rival.
With how poor West Ham have been since the start of the year, it is no wonder why they are drawing up a list of potential replacements in the case that David Moyes gets sacked – it would be worrying if they did not. Going winless for that long is extremely worrying and it seems like the amount of fans who want Moyes gone grows by the day.
The Hammer’s trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday is the first of four winnable fixtures in the Premier League. If they still fail to pick up points across those four matches, Moyes’ position may become untenable.
Last night, The Telegraph reported that West Ham could make a move for Oliver Glasner in the event that Moyes leaves. Glasner was the man in charge when Frankfurt beat the East London side in the Europa League semi-final, and went on to win the whole thing.
Over his ten year managerial career, he has managed four clubs and has been extremely successful across the board.
Unfortunately for the Irons, Glasner looks set to join Crystal Palace, according to Fabrizio Romano. “Crystal Palace have appointed Oliver Glasner as new head coach! Roy Hodgson has been fired,” he posted on X.
“Positive approach revealed yesterday night and agreement being sealed now as contracts are being reviewed.”
“Two year contract for Glasner at #CPFC, he gave green light yesterday.”
A manager as successful as him was never going to be without a job for too long, but he certainly would have suited West Ham. Given that they wouldn’t have had to pay any compensation for him, it could be an excellent appointment for the Eagles and one the East London side may come to envy.
