David Moyes has made a bizarre statement that will no doubt irk West Ham fans further following the hammering to Arsenal.

Our Hammers were humiliated last weekend in a 6-0 thrashing against our London rivals on our home turf, with the boss admitting the performance was nowhere near good enough.

“We didn’t play well, and we didn’t perform close to the level. We were punished by a really good team,” the manager told the press, as reported by the club’s Official Website.

“We’re all in it together, we’re going to act as though it’s a blip and try to bounce back tomorrow. I’m looking forward to seeing the response of the players, and what I’ve seen in training has been good.”

The boss also provided a fitness update ahead of the match against Nottingham Forest tomorrow, with Lucas Paqueta again set to miss out, but is nearing his return.

“Lucas Paquetá is not fit and available for tomorrow. He’s been on the grass for a couple of days, but he’s not ready yet,” said Moyes.

“We’ve missed Lucas loads. We’ve had a few players out recently, but I can see other teams who have had similar issues, and that’s part of the game.

“Michail Antonio’s back available. We need to see exactly how he is, but he’s back in the squad.

“Kurt Zouma is fine. The bigger issue was Edson Álvarez who came off with illness last time out, but he’s fine as well.”

Moyes then went on to make a bizarre statement, which sadly shows a significant lack of ambition for the remainder of the season.

“I think you set up your team to get a result, regardless of the opposition,” he added.

“We want to keep up the good results we’ve had, and if we can pick up another five or so wins this season it will get us in a good position.”
