West Ham are reportedly interested in signing a highly rated Brazil international in the Summer transfer window.

One thing that has become increasingly clear over the course of this season is that West Ham’s squad is potentially not as good as everyone thought. The defence has been shambolic, while there is a lack of overall depth which makes it impossible to rotate.

In particular, the Hammers have virtually no one in attack outside of their usual front three of Paqueta, Bowen and Kudus. Antonio is well past his best, while Cornet and Danny Ings barely get a look in. What is even more concerning though is the fact that the trio consists of two right wingers and an attacking midfielder.

However, according to Mundo Deportivo, they have found the solution to their problem but, shockingly, in yet another right winger.

Raphinha was someone that West Ham were heavily linked with a move for when Leeds got relegated. The Brazilian possesses lightning pace and brilliant skill which landed him a move to Barcelona rather than East London. While his stats are far from awful in Spain, he averages a goal involvement just under every other game this season, he has not been consistent enough for a club of their stature.

The report states that the Irons will face fierce competition for his signature with both Arsenal and Liverpool set to make a move for him.

Given how desperately our Irons need to improve in almost every other position except the right wing, it would be a baffling decision to blow a big chunk of our budget on Raphinha. That said, he is an absolutely brilliant player on his day but the only way to fit him in would be to keep Bowen up top and move Kudus on the left – it just does not seem like a smart decision.
