Journalist shares his opinion on former Premier League manager who is linked with the West Ham job.

It is no secret that West Ham are looking at potential replacements for David Moyes in the event that he is no longer manager next season. The Hammers may sit 8th in the Premier League and they may have just won their first major trophy since 1980, but that does not mean Moyes is a popular man in the East End of London.

Unsurprisingly, their poor form in 2024 has left Tim Steidten with the task of creating a shortlist of successors to the Scotsman with names like Tuchel, Potter and Mourinho all being linked with a move to the London Stadium. However, another name that has been mentioned is Steve Cooper. Despite being extremely popular amongst Nottingham Forest fans, the Welshman was sacked last year and is still without a club.

However, journalist Dean Jones has shut down these rumours and states that it is highly unlikely that we will see Cooper at West Ham anytime soon. “At the moment, I don’t think Steve Cooper is going to be in that conversation,” he told GIVEMESPORT, adding: “but I can see why people would expect him to be.”

“Perhaps further down the line, if they were to be looking at options and they weren’t falling into place, I think he could emerge as an option.”

While he is certainly the sort of manager that can get the fans united behind him, he is not the sort that will take our Irons to that next level. Unfortunately, the likelihood is that the board will likely have to take a risk on someone without Premier League experience if they are to push on and join the class above. It is an incredibly difficult job to do, and it will be even more difficult finding someone who is capable of succeeding David Moyes.
