West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek says he has taken confidence from his “superb” performance against Brentford and that he is confident heading into the Everton game.

While their league position might suggest otherwise, it is no secret that West Ham had been in worrying form ahead of their Premier League clash with Brentford. Fortunately, just as they were at risk of falling behind in the race for European football, they managed an emphatic 4-2 win over the Bees.

Across the pitch there were many sensational performances from the likes of Bowen and Emerson, but Tomas Soucek was arguably just as good as anyone else on Monday night. However, he is mindful of not growing complacent and hopes that the Hammers can build upon their last match to achieve their goals for the season.

“We are happy to have won the last game against Brentford – we needed that win,” he told the official site. “Now, we need to carry on in this way with performances and results as well. It will be tough there [Goodison Park] as they are a strong side, but I believe we are ready for the game.”

“I remember the manager [Sean Dyche] from Burnley where he played a similar style. He has now taken that to Everton, and they are scoring many goals from set-pieces and corners, so we know we are going to have to be at our best.”

“I told myself we need to win and will do everything to get the three points, and from minute one I felt super good. I just hope I can have a similar performance for the next game because it gave me confidence. It’s great when you go into the changing room after the game, and everyone tells you you were superb.”

He may have had rough patches over the past couple of years, but he is the sort of character you can’t help but love. His work ethic is always above anyone else’s – if he can perform like he did against Brentford every week then he will be an extremely dangerous player.
